Bryce’s first time back behind the wheel since his National Championship win at Sonoma Raceway came last weekend at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit for the fourth SCCA Hoosier Super Tour event of the season. Piloting a Formula Mazda under the Texas Autosport tent, Bryce also had additional support from Mugsy’s Grubhouse, one of Oklahoma’s premiere BBQ restaurants near the track.
The weekend began wet, as a small storm moved through on the morning of Friday’s test day. The track condition became better and better as the day went on, but the times that were being put down would give no indication of the speed Bryce would portray on Saturday and Sunday.
Bryce claimed pole and the win on both Saturday and Sunday. Amazingly, Bryce beat his Formula Mazda track record from last year (1:15.009) by a little over a second on Saturday (1:13.939). Sunday race day came and Bryce smashed his Saturday track record with a 1:13.595 placing an exclamation mark on the weekend dominance.
Currently, Bryce is 15 for 17 all time in Formula Mazda SCCA Major events.
